We had 15 players
from 6 states: 10 from MO; 2 from IL; one each from AL, NC, and WV.
Wilma Wolverton, MCA Secretary-Treasurer read the minutes of last
years business meeting and reported on the financial status. George Stallsworth continues as President with George Cook as Vice
President. She mentioned that
Chris Weiland was the Missouri Checker Association President from 1995 to
2006. These deceased members where also remembered: Howard Steiner - Feb. 5, 2011; George Juhl
- January 26, 2011; Ansel Owen - June 25, 2010; and Richard Slaten -
January 5, 2010.
Here were at least 4 checker players wives that accompany their husbands
to the tourney; Maxine Helterbrand, Candy Wait, Darlene Stallsworth, Wilma
Miller, and Player Wilma Wolverton.
We appreciated the delicious Tournament Cake, Cherry, and Strawberry Pies,
donuts, cookies, hot coffee, drinks, etc through out the tournament.
We also want to thank G.W. "Wayne" Miller for sponsoring the tournament
and lining up the Senior Center and making hotel arrangements, and ladies
for the food, drinks, & coffee, and our Director and Score-Keeper, George
& Darlene Stallsworth. A big thank you for all who were responsible
for making this an excellent tournament.
A delightful
tournament and wonderful fellowship was had by all who attended.
