Larry Michael opened
our tournament by welcoming everyone and giving an invocation. He also
announced our State Tournament date as May 18th & 19th.
Bill McClintock spoke about James Atkins'
pancreatic cancer and suggested we take up a charitable
collection since he is one of our checker players having a financially
rough time. We appreciate Tim Laverty performing as our tournament referee and

Draw is 1, Win is 2 points, Bye is 3, and Forfeit is 4.
Byes are awarded to the lowest accumulated game points, and
withdrawals are dropped to the bottom without points or prize
fund consideration. 19 entrants at a $15.00 entry fee which totaled $285 cash prize
fund, paying through top 10 places. We played
Swiss pairing for
5 (2) game rounds of one hour and a half, which allows 45 minutes per
game. We started at
10AM finishing around 6:00PM. GM stands for Grand Master, IM for International Master, CM
for Candidate Master, WIM stands for Women's International Master,
which are earned titles given to distinguish players by WCDF.
We appreciate Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant for hosting our tournament
and the use of their meeting room and the services throughout our tournament. Mrs. Frances McClintock baked a delicious pound cake for our
tournament which was appreciated and well received. Longest distance players were the Amish fellows who drove in
450 miles from Millersburg, Ohio and Danny Hughes at 370 miles from Niota, TN
A delightful
tournament and wonderful fellowship was had by all who attended.
