"The ACF Committee has select Louisville KY bid for the 2014 US National Tournament. It will be held Wednesday thru Sunday, July 23rd through the 27th. The initial bid included a minimum of $750.00, a place for the referee to stay, and a no-cost to the players prize funds venue. $500.00 of this money will be used toward the youth. However, pledges are still coming in so we expect the contributions to be much higher. The exact location of the playing site, and the details of each day, will be given later."

Please contact Michael Holmes, ACF Player Representative, at holmes_cdfm@yahoo.com or 502-767-2725 about questions, concerns, and/or pledge contributions. - Michael Holmes.  Please vote and send in you BALLOT (ACFB # 367 Jan/Feb issue)
as instructed.

Since our hotel has nothing to do with our playing facilities you might consider InTown Suites:  http://www.intownsuites.com/extended-stay-locations/kentucky/louisville/south. It is a weekly hotel located about two miles from the playing site, and at $220/week it works out to be cheaper than anything else in the area. The rooms also feature full kitchens (similar to Value Place hotels), so players can cook for themselves instead of going out to eat all week.

Alan Millhone has done a lot for checkers. He has been faithful to helping the ACF continue to improve which eventually will help the ACF to continue to grow. He has treated everyone with respect and has motivated plenty of volunteers to help the ACF. This is the type of leader we need. He makes sure bulletins are mailed, membership cards are mailed, organized events happen, and he motivates people to volunteer to help.

Please vote for Alan Millhone this coming election. I can tell you that there are dozens of kids in Louisville now playing checkers because of Alan Millhone. He motivated me to get kids involved in checkers. My son and I have had youth checker tournaments in Louisville and in Indiana throughout this year and last year. We have to get kids involved in checkers. We need volunteers to go to schools and make clubs to have tournaments. Kim Willis is another volunteer that has plenty of kids playing checkers. Alan Millhone is the only ACF president I am willing to work for to promote the game. Help the game grow, vote for Alan Millhone.
