"Preserving Our Heritage Festival"
( Usually scheduled 4th Saturday in August )
Alamance County Recreation & Parks Department and Carolina Farm Credit presents the annual Preserving Our Heritage Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at Historic Cedarock Park, 4242 R. Dean Coleman Road, Burlington.
The Burlington Checker Club will participate in the Alamance Co.

Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 9am - 5pm
The annual festival is free and features demonstrations of turn-of-the-century skills
that were typical on a farm of that era including weaving, tatting, lace-making, quilting, laundry, blacksmithing,
beekeeping, log hewing &
using hand tools and techniques for debarking logs and squaring timbers, butter churning, soap making,
& much more. Antique tractors, tucks, cars, & "hit & miss" engines will be on
display. Old-time children's games including
checkers, sack races & egg
toss. The usual and various food & drink vendors are available as refreshments provided by Danny’s Café will be available for
purchase. Live music all day featuring
Buttermilk Creek, playing bluegrass and gospel. Come out & enjoy
this fun, family-friendly event.
Yes, Checkers and Beekeeping will be there!
We will be the first two exhibits you will see as you pass through the main
entrance. We are set up on the right side beside each other. We will have our
2016 NC State Open Checker Tournament banner on display and the
checker players' tent set up beside the Alamance Co. Beekeepers. There should be
plenty of tables, chairs, boards, and checkers so by-passers can pick up a game!

The crown jewel of the Alamance County Recreation and Parks Department,
Cedarock Park and Historical Farm is located off of NC49, about 6 miles
south of Interstate 85/40 Exit 145. Home to two Disc Golf courses,
several walking trails, beautiful scenery, and an historical farm,
Cedarock is a wonderful place to visit!
