The 125^th Annual North Carolina Open Checker Tournament “In Memory of Cecil Lowe” will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 15^th & 16^th 2015 at the Econo Lodge Hotel, 2133 Hanford Rd, Burlington, NC 27215 (336) 227-1270. This two-day North Carolina State Open Checker Tournament will feature some of the best checker players across the state. It is an open format allowing anyone interested to sign up and compete. The tournament consists of three divisions. We will play 3-Move - eight 2 game rounds (Modified Swiss Style) of 1 hour & 15 minutes per game - 2 1/2 hour rounds. Entry fees: $30.00 Masters, $25 Majors, $20.00 Minors - Registration Opens: 8:00 a.m. - Annual NCCA Business Meeting 9:00 a.m. - Play begins 9:30 a.m. Lunch break after first round (12:00 pm), allowing a 1 hour lunch and re-start at 1:00 pm. Finishing rounds 2, 3, & 4 afterward. All players, wives, & family are invited to a Free Pizza Party Friday evening at 6:00 pm. Saturday play begins 8:30 a.m. and follows Friday's schedule with completing rounds 5 through 8 and finishing Saturday evening. We have negotiated special checker players' rates of $45.99 + tax ($50.47) for king or doubles so let the receptionist know you are a checker player. The top finishing NC player will be recognized as the 2015 North Carolina State Champion. This is an ACF (American Checker Federation) and NCCA (North Carolina Checker Association) sanctioned tournament. Your tournament performance will be rated with ACF. Bring your own board, checkers, deck, & clock. We anticipate an excellent prize fund.
