Wayne Lockheart, of Toledo, Ohio, took top honors in the 20th Annual Pool Checkers tournament Nov. 17, 2018, in South Bend, Indiana.  Lockheart scored 25 points out of a possible 32, with Fred D. Shurn, Maywood, Ill. second at 23 and General Owens, Chicago, close behind at 22.
The event was dedicated to the memory of the late Top Master Charles "Pecan" Thompson, who passed away in August.  Last year's champion Arthur "Sonny" Bell was in the hospital and unable to attend, but we are pleased to report that he has been released and is OK now.
The players agreed to play 4 games against each opponent.  The ratings are based on previous South Bend results, and scores were figured as 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw.
