The American Checker Federation will host the Ohio State Checker Tournament on Sept. 6-7 at the Rodeway Inn Medina Conference Center at I-71 and State Route 18 in Medina.

Players will register at 9 a.m. Saturday, with games starting at 9:30. The referee will be Alan Millhone of Belpre, Ohio, the current president of the American Checker Federation.

A six-day world title match of 24 games will follow the weekend tournament in the same location. Ron King of Barbados will defend his Go As You Please world title against Lubabalo Kondlo of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The match is sanctioned by the World Checker & Draughts Federation. Spectators are welcome.
