Top draughts player, Ronald "Suki" King is the national sports personality for 2006.

King was crowned by the National Sports Council, with assistance from media houses in Barbados.

He will reign until the end of 2007.

The official ceremony will be early next year.

King spoke to CBC sports about his major achievements for this year.

The draughts champion says he must thank his sponsors and team of car-washers, who rallied around him this year.

He also spoke about some of the goals he has his eyes on in 2007.
