(article about Paul Davis' wife Mary Davis passed away Monday, August 30, 2010.  Paul was a master checker player and won many tournaments in the '80, just to mention a few, 1979 GAYP  National in Sanford, NC, 1988 3-Move National in Danville, VA, and numerous others, including VA State Championship several times.  Paul was Gene Lindsay's checker mentor and his grandson, Tim Hensley wrote a Smithsonian Magazine article about Checkers.)

Mary LeMarr Davis   (Age: 91  June 11, 1919 - August 30, 2010)

ROSE HILL, Va. — Mary LeMarr Davis passed away Monday, August 30, 2010, at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital.

She was a very loving and sweet wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, her family, and her church.

Her long life was spent caring for others and she will be missed very much.

Preceding her in death were her parents, J.P. and Hassie LeMarr; one brother, Roy LeMarr; and one

sister, Hazel Fee.  Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Paul Davis of Rose Hill; one son, James

L. Davis and wife, Carolyn, of Rose Hill; two daughters, Jacinta Hensley and husband, Edmond, of

Rose Hill, and Teresa Susong and husband, Dan, of Quito, Ecuador, SA; ten grandchildren, Tim Hensley,

Melanie Stockwell, Paul Hensley, Shannon Hawkins, Jason Davis, Amanda Davis, Amy Hensley, Mary

Beth Susong, Drew Susong, and Lydia Susong; 18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey Taylor and

husband, Burrell, of Commerce, Ga., and Joy Long of Edgewater, Md.  The family will receive friends from

6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill.  Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Silver Leaf Baptist

Church in Rose Hill.  Burial will follow in Silver Leaf Cemetery. Grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.  Online condolences may

be left for the family at www.arney-mullinsfuneralhomes.com.  Arney-Mullins Funeral Home of Rose Hill, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
